On Sunday morning the 30th of December we had a very crazy morning. We were planning on having breakfast with the family then heading out to church. Mom and Thomas got up early and went down stairs, while Andrew and Caleb slept, and I was in the shower. Half way through my shower the fire alarm started going off. I was not about to panic knowing that my cousin and her four boys were also in the motel. For all I knew some kid might have set it off. However I did rinse all the soap off and stuck my head out the door to ask Andrew if it really was the fire alarm going off. He said in his very groggy morning voice. "Well the fire alarm here is blinking and it sure is making a lot of noise." So I told him to get Caleb dressed warm (since it was sub zero weather) and lets go. I dried off as quickly as I could and came out of the bathroom. In the mean time my mom and Thomas came up to tell us that the alarm was for real, and it was not one of the "T" brothers that pulled it. We were rushing around the room trying to grab purses, and wallets, and I could NOT find a pair of shoes because I did not have my contacts in. Just before we headed out the door someone was pounding on it saying "Get OUT Get Out!!! There's smoke on the second floor." By the way we were on the Third floor. I finally found a pair and on my way out the door I grab my contacts. We all ran down the stairs along with family members on the same floor, and other motel guests. After a few minutes of standing around in the lobby (basically because as previously stated it was below zero and no one wanted to stand around outside with wet hair, in their pjs, with out a coat....) the fire men finally arrived. They found the source of all the commotion. A defective light bulb. It actually had not yet started on fire but was close to it. It had produced a lot of smoke. Needless to say it took a while for the alarms to be turned off and things to calm down, and we totally missed church.
